After a long wait finally the 19th Common Wealth Games has been started from 3rd October 2010 in Delhi. The Opening ceremony was started on 7 p.m. at Jawaharlal Nehru stadium. India’s culture could be seen clearly in the Ceremony. Near about 65000 people were enjoying it at Stadium.  Unfortunately I was not the part of that but I watched it complete on National T.V.

There are 71 countries participating in the Games. Along with India’s President Prathiba Patil and Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh the Prince of Wales Prince Charles and his wife and Duchess of Cornwall, Camilla were present at the opening ceremony.

The Ceremony commenced with the National anthem.  The whole stadium was beautifully decorated and there was an “Aerostat” up in the mid of Stadium. Many traditional dances were performed like Kathak, Bharatanatyam, Odissi, Mohiniattam, Manipuri and Kuchipudi.

At last the Theme song was performed by the A.R Rehman with his popular and awarded song “Jay Ho”. It is a golden opportunity for any country to have Common wealth games on their land. This time India has got the chance and I think we have done a great job.
